WELCOME TO THE THEATER DISTRICT!
The City of Tacoma's premier arts & entertainment, mixed-use neighborhood community. Situated from 6th to11th and from Tacoma Avenue to Pacific, the Theater District has always served as the hub of information, theater, arts, food, coffee shops, antiques and commerce. Whether you're in the mood for a spectacular night at one of three landmark performance theaters or prefer a quiet evening taking in a classic film at the historic Grand Cinema Theater, Tacoma's Theater District is your "hotspot destination of choice".
Historically, the Theater District has always served a vital role as "the Heart of Downtown" Tacoma. The area has been home to more than a dozen theaters and performance venues. Currently, the Pantages and Rialto Theaters built in 1918, along with the Theatre on the Square built in 1993, houses the City's core performing arts Organizations: Northwest Sinfonietta; Puget Sound Revels; Tacoma City Ballet; Tacoma Concert Band; Tacoma Opera; Tacoma Philharmonic; Tacoma Symphony Orchestra; and Tacoma Youth Symphony Association.
The historic charm of the neighborhood serves vistors, residents, and merchants alike offering a variety of delicious restaurants and eateries, hip coffee shops, pubs, bookstores, antique shops, boutiques, art galleries, spas and neighborhood parks. Come stroll Opera Alley and the Middle Floor Merchant Shops.
Rediscover the City of Tacoma through events like the Downtown Farmer's Market and climb aboard the ArtBus on Third Thursday ArtWalk to tour the cities galleries and museums.
